Chorley Town Hall

Chorley, Lancashire

The result of a winning design competition proposal the Chorley Town Hall project created a contemporary local authority administrative headquarters within the context of the existing Victorian building.

The requirement for a fully DDA Compliant building within a building with multiple changes in level provided a demanding brief.

The resolution of the complex levels was to insert a circular atrium into the heart of the building, which contains glass lifts in glass shafts and is wrapped around by a staircase designed to link all levels.

The atrium is topped off with a spectacular glazed roof feature which naturally illuminates this new central space.
