Nelson Interchange

PR-Nelson- (5).jpg

Nelson, Lancashire

Nelson Interchange has been conceived as a truly seamless public transport building, linking both rail and bus modes via a simple building.

A fully glazed concourse provides ample space for users to access both the bus stands and the rail station via a new bridge and ramp, constructed as part of the works. The interchange provides 10 stands with additional provision for coach arrival and reception.
A new internal ticket office and tourist information centre has been created, as well as public toilets and staff administration and unique accommodation. The building is a significant feature in the townscape and serves as a particularly dramatic boundary to the existing context when illuminated in the evenings.
