Refurbishment and renewals for a busy station, consisting of improvements to front of house areas, staff areas, retail spaces, external parking and station approach. Natural light was a driving factor in the design of the central space with the feature glazed ‘eye’ roof light forming the centrepiece of the scheme.

 

Due to the complex nature of working in a live station environment, significant phasing strategies were developed throughout design stages to ensure there was no effect on station operations. With the first phase of works coinciding with the London 2012 Olympic Games, passenger numbers during the initial stages of work were amplified.
