Manchester Airport, Terminal 1

We were approached by Manchester Airport, a client with whom we have a long-standing working relationship with, to provide design services for the construction of a 2-storey extension to Pier B to create additional waiting capacity for Emirates passengers departing from Terminal 1. Modular construction was chosen as a practical choice to meet the client's very short programme and limited budget.

Whilst pretty aesthetics were low on the list of client priorities, this project represents a success for all parties involved in its construction. The logistical challenges of creating an entirely new building capable of holding over 300 passengers, for two different airlines, within a live passenger and airfield environment were met with enthusiasm by the design team, and the project was delivered on time and to budget with no problems reported on site.
